Bitcoin mining is still huge in China despite new ban in Inner Mongolia

I was reading this week that mining is China has decreased rapidly after the ban now. And it make sense, usually it takes a bit to enforce a ban after its promulgation.

For some it is but for others it is a big gain. As usual we have winners and loosers.

For some the looser the better.  Interesting folks were predicting the death of bitcoin because it wastes ridiculous amounts of energy.

Bitcoin has fallen back below $80,000, but if you want my opinion, I think it's a huge waste of energy that could be put to much better use. Above all, it has become a tool for speculation, which has nothing to do with its original purpose of decentralizing currency flows, and that's really tragic. Cryptocurrencies are an excellent idea, but as usual, they are being used for a totally different purpose.

Speculation and criminal activities. Still, it's a viable resource to people living in some types of places.
