I use both these video players.  
They are of comparable quality.  I wouldn't be able to tell which one is better (generally) or even which suites me better.
These are just small details that could make one of them more useful for you.

Anyway, both are recommend (along with the third one - old, good VLC)    10

I prefer MX over VLC because the last time I tried to use VLC, it still had that ugly UI with every video on your phone in a single list, and you couldn't group them by folders. And the fact that MX Player has every thing I need in a video player, apart from the FOSS and ads. Only gripe is it doesn't play HDR x265 files properly, but I haven't found any Android player that can do it anyway.
