What has your experience been and do they log?i mean for basic web-browsing it was okay, but honestly from my experience, it was eh. i have no clue if torrenting or pirating would be safe or not. obviously a paid vpn provider is going to be better but from all the free vpn services ive tried, proton seemed to be the best in terms of speed, reliability, and 'street credit' . i don't know if they log or not, so i can't say.

Some news said proton mail has leaked their clients information to government. So its vpn may not be the best choice.

could you be a little more specific, please? source? and what government?[ prolly the swiss, because their servers are located there?]
thanks in advance.

I tried it and would recommend for basic usage.
I had to use it for torrenting, works as intended ( for my use ), did not get a letter from ISP.

Use it for a few years. No problems. Haven't found a country I needed that it didn't have. No gripes from my ISP whatever I do. It is recognized by some large services (Youtube etc) who are starting to refuse some service if detected. Speed is good for my purposes. I use the paid version so your results may vary.

VPN is a must, free or not. The question to ask is if you can trust it.
The speed of servers vary wildly even in the paid version. I use it for seeding torrents and I have to switch servers and test speeds multiple times before finding a top tier one.

hm. a must,a must.. i dunno about that..i have never paid for anything on my pc yet,
and i am too old for new habits. so long as you stay away from unpopular habits like preaching the revolution, and stay out of the sights of the copyright warriors, i think you will be okay..i am using the free version of proton vpn nowadays, as a ff extension. the good news is that you can turn it off. and i have my doubts if you can trust any commercial players on the www.. as for slow servers, one thing that i have noticed on this free vpn,is that if the location is in daytime, it gets slow... also if the location is in a low-tech country.[ proton offers only very few servers in the free version, and you are not free to change them at will.]

Personally, I don't use any, but I'm curious: what are VPNs used for?
