Password security
#21
Heh, I've been using, passwords manager ever since I can remember, and I've never been safer, but lets be honest, the moment one really goes on the internet, you can never truly be safe. What do people even use these days to crack Passwords? Brute Forcing? or is it more in the norms of hacking the website that holds the data?

So if you check your password in a password checker website, aren't you effectively uploading your password onto the internet?

Yeah probably.

@Aveao That's smart! But the convenience factor of password managers' cannot be overlooked. But yeah, we always trade something else for convenience.

I don't use a password manager either. I make sure I always remember my passwords, and so far I haven't had any problems. I have a basic password that I then modify depending on the site where I'm creating an account, which is a bit like Aveao does.

anyway it should be good but if someone got two passwords of yours they can easily crack your other accounts as they will guess that you used similar passwords across other websites. (maybe even weaker than your birthday because they just need the username and website name)
so it is still better to use random passwords and keep them safe locally; using my approach helps you meet the password character requirement (like e.g. 1 upper case, 1 lower case, and numbers) but does not really add security to your account

It is better to use random phrases which are easy to memorize. But ideally, use a proper password manager.
