virtual box vs Hyper-v for testing software? - turkwois - 02-04-2026 What are your go to's for testing downloaded software. Do you have a favorite algorithm for vetting downloaded executables? RE: virtual box vs Hyper-v for testing software? - Fuserdotcom - 03-01-2026 For quick vetting, skip the VMs and just use Sandboxie. It’s way faster than spinning up VirtualBox or Hyper-V since it isolates the process directly on your OS. RE: virtual box vs Hyper-v for testing software? - tiggs - 03-03-2026 Doubling down on Sandboxie. There's also Any.run for more simple software if you don't want to set something up on your computer. It is A LOT more limited than Sandboxie without the pro subscription though. Firejail works pretty well on linux. RE: virtual box vs Hyper-v for testing software? - nightloops - 03-03-2026 i use virtual boxes to use linux, and its kinda hard to config it. just use sandboxie for that RE: virtual box vs Hyper-v for testing software? - nexus42 - 03-10-2026 absolutely sandboxie is the go-to for testing software RE: virtual box vs Hyper-v for testing software? - coderuby - 03-11-2026 I use sandboxie personally. But if you don't want to install third-party software there is "Windows Sandbox". You need windows 10/11 pro or enterprise and need to enable it via "Windows Optional Features tool". RE: virtual box vs Hyper-v for testing software? - busfahrer88 - 04-21-2026 or you can use proxmox if you have a server RE: virtual box vs Hyper-v for testing software? - Uncombed1554 - 04-24-2026 Haha, Sandboxie here too. |
