There is something called AtlasOS. which is just windows 11 absolutely striped from everything that is not useful for you as a user. i recommend you try it.
If you still want to use Linux you will need to decide what do you use your system for and who much time are you willing to invest on keeping your system running the way you need. There are plenty of releases that are install and use but, there are others that aim for cutting edge drivers and software. Do you aim to use your PC for something specific? May be i can help on what distribution to use.

AtlasOS looks interesting, thank you for mentioning it. @ffenyx

@zaaahel it is certainly an undertaking to switch to Linux, though it seems like the best move moving forward.
If you want to postpone it and stay in comfort zone, I suggest Windows 10 LTSC, better than W11 at least.

RE: change to linux - yulade - 01-24-2026

I will try windows 10 LTSC because i'm tired of win 11

RE: change to linux - hehip711 - 02-25-2026

I think the new versions of Ubuntu are good, I won't look any further personally.

RE: change to linux - Blahx - 02-26-2026

Linux is getting more promising with how Microsoft is acting.
Gaming wise, while proton has work fairly well, kernal level anticheats are still a problem.

Yeah, after each patch of windows "more AI bullshit" my friends and I are getting closer to swap together to Ubunto as an experiment, maybe on summer (Im a graphic designer so its more difficult in my case)

RE: change to linux - x3vyx - 02-27-2026

try windows iot, its good for me

RE: change to linux - busfahrer88 - 03-21-2026

just try it, the only thing I was not able to replace is word and powerpoint for my work - the open source options are still lacking important features

Well, Bazzite Linux seem to be the new black. At least if you play games.
