Gadgets were removed from Windows for a reason. Back in 2016 an article was published covering this very subject for Windows 8 and 10.

The reasons MS offers are plain-stupid to say it politely :D .

That does apply to most installed software on a system.

Apparently that move was done in favor to their UWP Apps which should replace the functionality but never managed to do so.

I still use the 'Monitor' line by Igogo, all needed info for OCDs like me (and highly configurable).

Well... How can I say it nicely & understandable......

Everything in the world has some risks, even breathing. But I trust more Igor (I know him already many years) as MS. And the gadget code can easily be checked, is not assembly.
